The conference discussed ways of giving pay rises to military personnel and providing them with housing and adequate medical care.
Before the conference, Mr Putin presented 85 housing certificates for military personnel and reserve officers living in the Volgograd Region to Viktor Kazantsev, commander of the United Group of Federal Forces in the North Caucasus.
Mr Putin also chaired a brief meeting with representatives of the Finance Ministry and the Defence Ministry and discussed the local socio-economic situation with Volgograd Region Governor Nikolai Maksyuta.
