The congratulatiory message reads, in part:
“Your organisation has earned the deserved reputation of one of the most influential trade union organisations in the country. You have built up considerable work experience and have effectively defended people’s labour rights on more than one occasion.
The trade union movement today can play a key part in achieving national social and economic objectives and building a constructive dialogue and social partnership. This is particularly relevant now, at this time of economic recession. The authorities hope for productive cooperation with the trade unions representing the different sectors so as to achieve our common goals of preserving jobs, training and re-training of young people, organising public work and supporting small business.”
