The Russian President shared with his Ukrainian counterpart his views on the results of the G8 summit, which had just ended in Okinawa. The sides agreed to further discuss Mr Putin’s recent foreign visits during the upcoming informal CIS summit in the Crimea on August 18–19, 2000.
Mr Putin and Mr Kuchma also exchanged opinions on the outcome of the Ukrainian Prime Minister’s trip to Moscow on July 19. They reviewed certain pending bilateral issues that required prompt solutions and agreed on the necessity of invigorating Russian-Ukrainian cooperation in all areas. The two leaders hoped progress would be made on all these matters at the meeting in the Crimea in August.
