One of the political and economic priorities for the Russian Government is to combat poverty, the President said in an interview with Italian journalists.
In particular, Mr Putin said: “We may only expect a decent future if we ensure successful integration of the basic principles of market economy and democracy with Russia’s realities. This is the line to be followed by experts in their research and analytical work and by the Government agencies of all levels.”
The President expressed his hope for expanding teamwork with the Italian leadership. In his opinion, both parties are interested in a closer cooperation in building European security and in strengthening the role of the United Nations in confronting new challenges, international terrorism above all.
