Mr Rushailo told the Acting President about the situation in Chechnya and the entire North Caucasus, where Internal Affairs Ministry’s units were actively engaged.
As he addressed journalists after the meeting, the Minister told them about the operation which took place the previous day and night in the Urus-Martan district of Chechnya. Internal Affairs and Defence ministry units captured 42 rebels and killed five in armed resistance.
As the Minister said, army involvement in the Chechen action was soon to finish. Emphasis would shift on Internal Affairs units at its final stage.
Interior Ministry and Security Council leaders are to visit Chechnya quite soon to see what could be done for social welfare.
