The meeting followed a liturgy Patriarch Alexii II celebrated at the Kremlin’s Assumption Cathedral in remembrance of Patriarch Hermogen.
As he talked to the Primates of the two Churches, Mr Putin stressed the value of close ties between the Russian and Armenian nations after centuries of peace and accord.
Mr Putin pointed out the importance of the Armenian religious leader’s visit to Russia.
