Vladimir Putin signed the federal law “On the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.”

The law stipulates that two representatives from each region – from the legislative and the executive body of government – are sent to the Federation Council.

The new Federation Council is to be formed by January 1, 2002.
