Dmitry Medvedev signed the Federal Law 'On Amendments to the Federal Law on the Public Council of the Russian Federation'

The amendments give the Public Council greater powers and establish the legal basis for it to take part in setting up public supervisory commissions in the regions to help ensure respect for human rights in places of involuntary confinement.
