Acting President presenting a standard to Colonel General Konstantin Totsky, Director of the Federal Border Guard Service.
Russia was not going to re-establish the Iron Curtain, Russia needed a civilised state border which would be open to the whole world, said Mr Putin, presenting the standard.
The Acting President noted that the key objectives for boarder guards were to protect Russia’s economic interests, fight against international terrorism, organised crime, smuggling and drug trafficking. Mr Putin emphasised the need to pay special attention to fortification and construction of border areas of the Chechen Republic.
