At the meeting Mr Putin and Mr Frank discussed the federal programmes to create international transportation corridors in Russia. According to Mr Frank, export of transit services would be a new product, and special attention should be paid to the development of the ‘North-South’ corridor, which would connect India and Iran with Northern Europe through Russia.
President Putin approved the Ministry’s proposals to upgrade the existing air and maritime transport facilities.
The Minister also briefed the President on the progress of the oil terminal construction in the port of Primorsk. Special attention was paid to the improvement of transport services to the population of the Kaliningrad Region.
