President Vladimir Putin and Japanese Prime Minister Yoshiro Mori held their final round of talks at the Akasaka Palace

The Russian and Japanese leaders met over a working dinner to discuss a wide range of bilateral issues, including the peace treaty, as well as current international issues.

After the talks there was a signing of Russian-Japanese documents. Vladimir Putin and Yoshiro Mori affixed their signatures to the joint statement on the problem of the peace treaty, the joint statement on bilateral international cooperation and the programme of promoting trade and economic cooperation.

The two leaders looked on as members of their delegations signed an inter-governmental agreement on cultural ties, a memorandum on the creation and work of Japanese centres in Russia to assist reforms. Among the documents issued were a press release on the signing of a new air communications agreement, a joint communique on the development of technical and intellectual cooperation as part of Russian-Japanese effort for reform, a joint statement on communications and cooperation to prevent and clear the aftermath of oil pollution in coastal waters.

After the signing ceremony the Russian President and the Japanese Prime Minister gave a joint news conference.
