The meeting discussed preparations for the winter heating season and energy issues in general. Mr Putin gave instructions for Gazprom and Unified Energy Systems to set up a joint working group to draft a strategy for Russia’s fuel and energy balance through to 2020 and to present the document to the Government for examination by the end of November.
Speaking with journalists before the meeting began Mr Putin said that effective work in the energy sector would create the conditions for long-term economic growth.
