The two Presidents exchanged congratulations on the upcoming anniversary of Victory in the 1941–1945 Great Patriotic War and discussed current bilateral cooperation issues and joint efforts within regional organisations.
Particular attention was given to further development of the energy dialogue between the two countries, and to the establishment of a customs union within the Eurasian Economic Community (EurAsEC). Mr Medvedev and Mr Nazarbayev reiterated their reciprocal commitment to launch the customs union in the near future and agreed to closely monitor implementation of practical steps aiming to accomplish this priority integration undertaking.
Taking into account the busy schedule of top-level bilateral contacts ahead, the two Presidents exchanged views on preparations for multilateral events in June and July, including within the framework of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO) and Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO).
