Shortly before the International Day for the Disabled, President Putin visited the Centre for the Production of Prosthetic and Orthopaedic Equipment at the RSC Energia’s experimental engineering plant. The President went around shops manufacturing modern prosthetic equipment for people with locomotor system disorders and examined a display of Russian-made equipment for the disabled.
Later, Mr Putin met with representatives of public organisations for the support of the disabled. He told them that in 2001, 60 million roubles would be allocated from the President’s reserve fund for assistance to disabled children, 600,000 of whom are registered in Russia now, and 10 million roubles to support disabled servicemen.
Vladimir Putin also visited some shops at RSC Energia and met with the corporation’s executives.
