Guided by charity, taking into consideration the convicted man’s health and his personal request, and motivated by the high level of current Russian-US relations, President Putin pardoned Edmond Pope, who had been sentenced to 20 years’ imprisonment for espionage on December 6, 2000, and requested that he be released from prison.
