Vladimir Putin and George W. Bush discussed the global situation after the September 11 terrorist attacks. They also discussed the issues to come on the agenda of their eye-to-eye meeting in Shanghai, late in October. Mr Bush thanked Mr Putin for his support of the international anti-terrorist cause.
The conversation lasted about one hour. It was their third conversation after the September 11 terrorist attacks in New York and Washington.
