At a news conference that followed the meeting, President Putin advocated further development and deeper relations between Russia and NATO. He suggested developing cooperation in two ways – a purely political cooperation and extended counter-terrorist cooperation.
Mr Putin described Mr Robertson’s proposal to create a working body to deal with the development of Russia-NATO relations as sound and business-like.
The NATO leader stressed that it had become clearer for the world leaders that the principal threat to global security was coming from terrorism.
Mr Robertson characterised the talks with Mr Putin as transparent, open and explicit.
