The two leaders noted the similarities between their countries’ main approaches to the fight against international terrorism. They agreed to help establish a government in Afghanistan that would guarantee the country’s peaceful development so as to prevent Afghan territory from posing a threat to neighbouring countries or being used to support international terrorists.
