Mr Putin and Ms Vike-Freiberga discussed various political, economic and humanitarian issues of bilateral and international interest.
Special emphasis was laid on the status of ethnic Russians in Latvia, access to education in the Russian language and the place of the Russian language in the information environment. War veterans and the revival of right-wing forces in Latvia were also on the agenda.
The Presidents agreed on the necessity of taking joint efforts to settle arising problems.
