The heads of state discussed economic cooperation, including energy issues and a settlement of the Transdnestr conflict.

At the end of the meeting, the Presidents signed a joint statement on the principles of political, trade and economic cooperation between their countries.

In this document Russia and Moldova stated their readiness to strengthen and expand mutually beneficial relations in the trade, economic, scientific, cultural and other fields in order to make more effective use of the existing capabilities to enhance the wellbeing of their peoples.

The Presidents agreed to cooperate in countering international terrorism and other forms of extremism and separatism both at a bilateral and a multi-lateral level.

The document stressed that the Transdnestr problem must be solved exclusively by peaceful means on the basis of respect for the principle of sovereignty and territorial integrity of Moldova and observance of international human rights standards.
