The message said, in part:
“I have read your message of April 9, 2001, in which you evaluate the achievements of the Key West meeting and express your views on our shared Karabakh settlement policy. I share your opinion that Azerbaijani President Heidar Aliev and Armenian President Robert Kocharian made certain progress at the negotiation table largely due to coordinated efforts by the three OSCE Minsk group co-chairs. Interaction on Karabakh exemplifies our countries’ successful cooperation on settling complicated regional problems. I hope that, with the co-chairs’ active assistance, the new round of Geneva negotiations in the 2 + 3 format will also be fruitful and help Azerbaijan and Armenia to bring their positions ever closer together.”
In conclusion, Mr Putin once again confirmed Russia’s readiness to carry on unified efforts with the United States for Karabakh settlement.
