The main topic of discussion was the situation in the Middle East. Mr Putin reiterated that Russia would remain active in the search for a peaceful settlement in the Middle East and that it recognised Syria’s great role in that process.
Mr Putin accepted an invitation from President Bashar Assad of Syria to visit his country and, in his turn, sent a return invitation to the President of Syria.
