The tasks of the Commission include compiling and analysing information on the falsification of historical facts and events aimed at damaging Russia's international prestige, and preparing relevant reports for the President. In addition the Commission will develop a strategy to counter such falsifications, undertaken in order to harm Russia's interests, and advise the President on the appropriate steps to be taken.
Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Sergei Naryshkin was appointed Chairman of the Commission. The Commission includes representatives of the Presidential Executive Office, and various ministries and agencies including the Ministry of Defence, the Federal Security Service and Foreign Intelligence Service, the Russian Academy of Sciences, a number of non-governmental organisations, as well as State Duma deputies.
