The village is 72 km from Saransk and has a population of about 800 people. A modern livestock complex that uses the latest technology to produce milk has been built in the village as part of the Developing Agriculture national project.
The three heads of state visited the local school which has existed since 1883. 141 students study in the school. The curriculum taught in the school has an ethno-cultural component.
In 2007 the school won a one million ruble grant from the President of Russia. The school also has a high-speed Internet connection and its own website as part of the priority national project Education.
After visiting the school Vladimir Putin, Tarja Halonen and Ferenc Gyurcsany went to Nikolskaia Church, a church built by funds from the village inhabitants'.
The three heads of state then visited the Mordovian National Cultural Centre in Staraia Terizmorga.
