Mr Ivanov noted that Russia’s gross domestic product showed an increase of 7.8 percent over the first half of 2007 compared to the same period in 2006 and characterised the overall state of the country’s economy as stable and positive. He also noted that growth in the processing sector is considerably outstripping overall economic growth.
At Mr Putin’s request, Mr Ivanov reported on the situation in individual sectors, including transport, machine building, construction, metallurgy, the chemicals industry, the timber processing industry and the production of electrical equipment and household electronic goods.
Mr Ivanov also examined the situation in the shipbuilding and aircraft manufacturing industries.
