The President called for stepping up efforts in fighting extremism in Russia. He admitted with regret that the authorities’ efforts in this direction proved inefficient sometimes.
When speaking of the recent affray at the Tsaritsino metro station in Moscow, the head of state said the country was facing many outbreaks of extremism-related violence, something it had never witnessed before.
In his turn, Mr Chaika emphasised the need of consistent improvement of Russian legislature and urgent adoption of a bill that would give legal definitions to such notions as extremism and an extremist organisation.
The president instructed the Ministry of Justice to speed up the drafting of the relevant document.
