Finance Minister Aleksei Kudrin told the President about how the budget is being implemented and also reported that over the past year (from 24 July 2006 to 24 July 2007) the average return of the Stabilisation Fund amounted to 9,5 percent in monetary terms.
Emergencies Minister Sergei Shoigu reported on how reconstruction efforts following the earthquake in Nevelsk (Sakhalin) are proceeding. Vladimir Putin instructed Sergei Shoigu to make a report on the effectiveness of work done to mitigate the effects of the earthquake.
In his turn, Regional Development Minister Vladimir Yakovlev said that restoring Nevelsk would require about five billion rubles over two years. The Minister cited preparing the city for winter, embarking on major renovations, and housing construction as the most pressing issues.
The head of state emphasised the need for timely and adequate funding to reconstruct the regions that have been destroyed.
