Mr Putin and Mr Rakhmonov continued their regular exchange of opinions on the situation in the region where the international counter-terrorist operation was taking place and on the prospects of settlement in Afghanistan.
Mr Putin and Mr Rakhmonov also discussed bilateral relations and preparations for the jubilee CIS summit.
