After visiting the Voronezh radar station in Lekhtusi, Vladimir Putin described the new ground facilities and part of the early warning missile defence system as the first step towards implementing a major programme in this sphere, a programme that is planned until 2015. The President pointed out that the radar station was created based on domestic intellectual and production capacities. This radar station acts as an example of innovative development in the Armed Forces: it is much cheaper, more effective, and more reliable than previously existing ones.
Vladimir Putin expressed his hope that the Ministry of Defence will do everything possible to ensure the implementation of all plans designed to modernise the army and the navy.
