The Klimov Corporation is the only company in Russia that oversees the full cycle of designing, producing and servicing gas turbine engines. The President held a meeting at Klimov headquarters on the present situation and future development of engine production in the aviation industry.
As he opened the meeting the head of state noted that Russian engine producers are lagging somewhat behind global leaders in all areas. The President considers that the fact that Russia does not engage in serial production of modern engines currently in demand is the major factor hindering the implementation of major projects in the aircraft construction industry.
The meeting was devoted to finding solutions to presently existing problems.
Following the meeting Vladimir Putin, Klimov General Director Aleksandr Vatagin and General Designer Aleksei Grigorev examined various products produced by the Klimov factory. The exhibition showcased five engines that are currently in the test phase.
