Prosecutor-General Yury Chaika reported to the head of state on the progress made in the investigation into the murder of Novaya Gazeta correspondent Anna Politkovskaya which has led to the arrest of 10 suspects. He said they would be charged in the near future. Politkovskaya was murdered in the entrance of her block of flats in Moscow on October 7, 2006.
FSB Director Nikolai Patrushev reported to the President on the initial results of the investigation into the terrorist attack targeting the railroad in the Novgorod Region, where a passenger train Nevsky Ekspress was derailed as a result of an explosion on August 13.
