The talks were preceded by a ceremony on the square before the Presidential Palace at which President of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan officially welcomed President Vladimir Putin.
The two leaders had a brief discussion and were then joined by their delegations for talks in expanded format.
The two Presidents discussed trade and economic and investment cooperation, including cooperation in the oil and gas sector, the metals industry and in military and space technology.
Mr Putin and Sheikh Al Nahyan paid particular attention to international issues, discussing in particular ways to settle the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the situation in Iraq and the Iranian nuclear programme.
A number of bilateral agreements were signed in the two leaders’ presence following the talks.
