The Minister reported that three Russian nationals were in custody at the US military base in Guantanamo (Cuba). Mr Ivanov did not exclude the possible prosecution of those persons. He noted that the people had been captured armed in Afghanistan. The Minister said the extradition of those persons was not an issue at the moment.
Recently a Russian military delegation studied the conditions at the base where POWs are kept, Mr Ivanov reported.
The Minister also informed the head of state of the consultations between US and Russian experts on the offensive weapons agreement.
Also Mr Ivanov briefed the President on the development of the Armed Forces and the situation concerning social benefits for servicemen.
