The message read, in part:
“We share your concern over the problem of poverty. The task of overcoming it will be discussed at your current summit. Like Latin American countries, we proceed from the fact that the difficult social and economic situation in some regions of the world, along with new challenges of globalisation, require resolute and, above all, comprehensive measures on the part of the international community. These measures should help overcome the developing nations’ economic and technological backwardness, in particular, reduce the “digital gap” and provide funds to support sustainable development and create favourable conditions for expanding trade, ensuring access to markets and attracting investment.
“A major constituent of our joint efforts for eradicating poverty is the timely identification and elimination of deep-rooted causes of current conflicts in the world, including social and economic ones.
“Russia is ready to step up mutually advantageous cooperation with the Rio Group members and other countries for ensuring a fair distribution of the gains of globalisation among all countries, adding a social dimension to this phenomenon and improving global economic ties on an equal basis.”
