Patriarch Alexii II of Moscow and All Russia led the Easter service. He addressed the President using ancient Easter greetings and presented him with an Easter egg.
The service was attended by about 5,000 people, including Chairman of the Federation Council Sergei Mironov, Deputy Prime Minister Valentina Matviyenko, Defence Minister Sergei Ivanov, the President’s Envoy to the Central Federal District Georgy Poltavchenko, Constitutional Court President Marat Baglai and Moscow Mayor Yury Luzhkov.
