The law aims to establish a unified organisation to build facilities required for the XXII Winter Olympics and XI Winter Paralympics in Sochi in 2014. Under the law’s provisions, a non-commercial organisation will be set up: the State Corporation for the Construction of Olympic Facilities and the Development of the City of Sochi as an Alpine Sports and Recreation Resort (hereafter referred to as the Corporation). The law defines the Corporation’s legal status and sets out the procedures for forming its assets and for its financial activities.
The Corporation’s aim is to carry out the necessary work to build facilities required for the XXII Winter Olympics and XI Winter Paralympics in Sochi in 2014, based on the programme for the construction of Olympic Facilities and the development of the city of Sochi as an alpine sports and recreation resort approved by the Russian Government.
The Corporation’s main task is to organise the construction of Olympic facilities, including the organisation of design, construction and reconstruction of sports facilities, and also transport facilities, engineering infrastructure, energy supply systems, healthcare and communications infrastructure and tourism facilities required for the XXII Winter Olympics and XI Winter Paralympics in Sochi in 2014. The Corporation will also be responsible for operating the Olympic facilities.
