During the State Council Presidium session held in Krasnoyarsk and devoted to developing and modernizing Russia's transport system, Vladimir Putin emphasized that advanced transport infrastructure has strategic significance for economic growth and will help Russia embark on innovative development strategies.
The President noted that certain steps designed to develop existing transport infrastructure have already been taken. A Russian Transport Development Strategy until 2020 has been adopted and is being implemented, and a Strategy for Developing Rail Transport until 2030 has been approved. The construction of new as well as high-speed railways, modernizing airports and upgrading roads is planned.
The head of state also considers that despite the increased amounts of funding that the state has allocated to modernizing transport infrastructure, capital investments from private investors must complement these budgetary funds. And this public-private partnership must be attractive and beneficial not only for the state but also for those investing their personal funds.
