Mr Putin began the meeting by saying that the parliamentary election has convincingly shown that Russia’s domestic political situation is stable and that the Russian people are the main guarantor of this stability. The President thanked everyone who took part in the election.
Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov reported on an upcoming meeting of forestry industry representatives and forestry products exporters in Vologda. Mr Putin instructed the Prime Minister to resolve the problems facing the forestry sector without creating difficulties for Russia’s foreign partners but at the same time giving priority to Russia’s own interests above all.
First Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Ivanov reported on the work to restore electricity supply after an accident at an electricity sub-station in Kamchatka. Mr Putin instructed the Government to pay particular attention to energy and heating supply issues in the Far East and Kamchatka.
Regional Development Minister Dmitry Kozak reported on preparations for the 2012 APEC summit in Vladivostok.
