The congratulatory message reads, in part:
”It is my pleasure to congratulate Mr Klibern and all the participants at this reception on this marvellous occasion – the fiftieth anniversary of this outstanding musician’s victory in the International Tchaikovsky Competition.
This truly triumphant performance by an American pianist in Moscow in distant 1958 was not just a memorable event in our cultural life but also a symbol of the positive changes in the relations between our countries and peoples. Indeed, cultural cooperation and the direct dialogue between our citizens did much to thaw the ice of the Cold War.
It is important to say that Mr Klibern has remained a good friend of Russia over the succeeding decades. His many years of philanthropic, educational and mentor work and his significant personal contribution to strengthening humanitarian contacts between Russia and the United States deserve our sincere respect.
From all my heart I wish Mr Klibern and everyone at the reception new creative success and all the very best.“
