With NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer.
In Mr Putin’s presence, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer signed and exchanged letters on land transit across Russian territory for goods needed by the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan.
Russia’s letter sets out routes, agreed with NATO, for freight transit to Afghanistan via Russia’s border posts.
NATO’s letter of reply confirms that the NATO member countries and other countries taking part in the mission in Afghanistan will comply with the transit rules set by Russia.
