Russia and Vietnam will work together to make the world safer and more multi-polar, Dmitry Medvedev said following talks with President of Vietnam Nguyen Minh Triet.
Mr Medvedev said the two countries signed important agreements in a number of different areas and particularly noted cooperation in the fuel and energy sector.
The two countries will step up efforts to carry out fossil fuels exploration work in their own countries and third countries. Russian companies Gazprom, Zarubezhneft and Zarubezhneftegaz signed agreements with Vietnamese corporation PetroVietnam in this area, the President said.
Mr Medvedev also noted the importance at the current time to develop inter-bank contacts and proposed using the two countries’ national currencies in settlements.
