Speaking at a meeting on preventing crimes against children, the President proposed toughening criminal law penalties for crimes against minors.
Mr Medvedev said that essential measures to combat such crimes include more active prevention efforts, work with problem families, and better protection of children’s safety in educational, healthcare, sports and other social establishments.
Russia needs a modern system for protecting children, the President declared, noting that one can judge a society’s maturity and development level from the way it treats its children.
