The President instructed Interior Minister Rashid Nurgaliyev and Director of the Federal Security Service Alexander Bortnikov to keep control of the situation in Ingushetia and report regularly on the investigation into the attack on the republic’s president.
Mr Medvedev instructed Plenipotentiary Presidential Envoy to the Southern Federal District Vladimir Ustinov to take all measures necessary to help those wounded and the families of those killed in the attack and sent him to Ingushetia to monitor the situation.
At a meeting with President of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov, the President instructed Mr Kadyrov to intensify counter-terrorism efforts and stressed that the authorities would take a firm response to terrorist acts.
Later Dmitry Medvedev had a telephone conversation with Prime Minister of Ingushetia Rashid Gaisanov. Following the attack on the life of President of Ingushetia Yunus-Bek Yevkurov, Mr Medvedev instructed Mr Gaisanov to step up security measures in the republic and ensure that there is no disruption to all government officials’ and agencies’ work.
