During Russian-Mongolian talks ways to ensure the sustainable growth of trade, to improve the efficiency of joint ventures, cooperation prospects in the sphere of transport, and cooperation in prospecting, mining and processing uranium ore were the subject of discussion.
After the talks Dmitry Medvedev and Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj signed the Declaration on Developing a Strategic Partnership between Russia and Mongolia. Several bilateral documents were signed in the presence of the state leaders.
During the visit Dmitry Medvedev met with Prime Minister of Mongolia Sanjaa Bayar. The Russian President also visited the Ulan Bator branch of the Plekhanov Russian Academy of Economics.
On the second day of his visit Dmitry Medvedev took part in the ceremonies marking the seventieth anniversary of the joint Soviet-Mongolian victory in the Battle of Khalkhin Gol. Dmitry Medvedev and Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj laid a wreath at the monument to Marshal Georgy Zhukov in Ulan Bator, and then took part in a ceremony presenting Russian and Mongolian state awards to Russian and Mongolian veterans of the Battle of Khalkhin Gol.
