The message reads, in part:
“Your unique voyage was closely followed by your colleagues, scientists and experts, members of the Russian Geographical Society and nautics fans in around the world. Your courage and steadfastness, your extraordinary personal and professional qualities helped you to withstand all the trials and conquer the ocean.
We can now say with confidence that the first ever voyage in a rowboat from the coast of Chile to Australia was a success. You carried on the wonderful traditions of great Russian explorers and travelers, who made an enormous contribution to the study of the World Ocean.”
Fedor Konyukhov, 62, has made five voyages around the world and carried out dozens of other unique expeditions and ascents.
