The two leaders expressed their satisfaction with the agreements reached at the Russia-EU-Ukraine ministerial meeting that was held on September 12 in Brussels on postponing implementation of the Association Agreement between the European Union and Ukraine until January 1, 2016. The politicians made note of the need for further joint work to clarify practical details in that agreement.
Mr Putin and Ms Merkel exchanged views on the situation concerning Russia’s supply of natural gas to EU countries and agreed to continue consultations in a trilateral format.
The two leaders also discussed the developing situation in Ukraine, taking into account the importance for the parties in the conflict to strictly comply with the ceasefire and effective monitoring of the peace process through the OSCE.
