The President noted the need for common construction policy and technical standards in the housing and utilities sector, as well as measures to ensure that sites of the same type do not end up costing completely different prices from one region to the next. Efforts are also needed to root out corruption and prevent the formation of monopolies in the sector.
Mr Men said that work has begun on implementing the instructions in this area set out in the Presidential Address to the Federal Assembly. In particular, pilot projects on establishing a single technical contractor system are being prepared in the regions. These projects’ results will be taken into account as this system is later extended to the federal level.
Also discussed at the meeting were construction of subsidised housing, implementation of the Housing for Russian Families programme, technical regulation issues, and programmes to relocate people from dilapidated housing and carry out full renovation of the housing stock.
