The President’s message reads, in part:
“The tradition to widely celebrate Christmas in this country is rooted in our history and is passed from generation to generation with care. It exposes us to the eternal values of Christianity that have for centuries united our people in their strive to resolve pressing vital issues.
In our days, the Russian Orthodox Church serves as an example of dedication to the people, taking care of their education and moral health, carrying out its lofty social and charitable mission.
I am happy to have this opportunity to yet again express my deep gratitude to you, Your Holiness, for your continuous selfless work and for your personal contribution to the development of fruitful and constructive dialogue between the church and the state.”
