Greetings to international academic congress honouring the legacy of Lev Gumilev

Vladimir Putin sent his greetings to participants and guests of the Heritage of Lev Gumilev and the Fate of the Peoples of Eurasia: History, Modernity, and Prospects academic congress.

October 1, 2012
14:40

The message reads, in part:

“Lev Gumilev, with his extraordinary talents of an analyst and the courage of a true investigator and trailblazer, made a unique impact on the development of national and global science. His rich creative legacy has gained widespread international recognition. His original ideas are inspiring active studies and discussions of the most important historical events even today.

Your meeting presents a good opportunity for the exchange of opinions on prospects for broadening humanitarian ties between the peoples of the CIS countries. I am confident that your constructive dialogue on educational, cultural and spiritual themes will contribute to further promoting integration processes within the Commonwealth and strengthening trust and mutual understanding in the region.”

The Congress is being held in St Petersburg on October 1–3, 2012 and honours the 100th anniversary of the birth of outstanding Russian historian and ethnologist Lev Gumilev.
