The message reads, in part:
“OANA is rightly considered one of the oldest and most prestigious international associations of news agencies. Its multifaceted activities contribute to the consolidation of the media community in the Asia-Pacific Region and encourage a direct and free exchange of information in the region.
You are about to embark on discussions of current professional issues, extensive debates and meetings. Such a rich dialogue is designed to strengthen cooperation among news agencies, both in technology and creative projects, and to help develop a balanced approach to covering acute modern issues. It is vitally important that the media’s well thought-out and united position becomes a key factor in addressing them. Naturally, your joint efforts will also make a significant contribution to building a stable and prosperous Asia- Pacific region.
It is symbolic that this year’s Forum is being held in Russia. We are proud of our media’s rich history, our talented writers, journalists, reporters and editors, and their crucial role in the development of the best traditions of global journalism.
I am sure that your meeting in Moscow will be useful for all participants and will mark the start of promising ideas, interesting projects and initiatives.”
The 15th General Assembly of the Organisation of Asia-Pacific News Agencies is being held in Moscow on September 19–21.
